Shelby County Busted Mugshots is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm a person’s current custody status, release anyone, post bond, or retrieve an official booking file. A booking records an accusation, not a conviction. Use the originating agency or court for official actions, confirmations, and the final disposition.
Where to Start With a Record
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office contact page is the primary local route for jail and booking questions. It lists the following public contact block:
Shelby County Sheriff’s Office
151 N. Morgan Street
Shelbyville, IL 62565
Main and jail contact: 217-774-3941
Emergency: 911
Fax: 217-774-2851
There is no separate booking-record phone, published records-counter schedule, local fee schedule, or retention period on the reviewed SCSO pages. Call the main line before traveling or sending a request. The SCSO FOIA page names Tina Wade and Erica Bailey as FOIA officers and gives Erica Bailey as an example addressee. Make the request in writing, describe the record in detail, and include the requester’s name, address, date, and daytime phone. A narrow date range, arresting agency, booking number, and request for a booking photograph if available and releasable can help the office locate the file.
- For a booking record or mugshot request, use the Shelby County search and records page and then the written SCSO FOIA path. The home page explains that no public SCSO booking roster or rolling feed was located.
- For current custody or a release notification, use the official SCSO jail information page and VINE/AVN. VINE/AVN is a custody-status and notification service, not a photo gallery.
- For someone just arrested, start with the county route and then call 217-774-3941 if the question is time-sensitive. A public 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, or weekly Shelby booking feed was not located.
- For a wanted-list or warrant question, use Most Wanted Fugitives for the documented check paths. A listing is not a conviction, and the issuing court or law-enforcement office must confirm a specific warrant.
- For the court outcome after booking, contact the Shelby County Circuit Clerk or try the county’s Judici case search. Access may be limited for juvenile, sealed, impounded, or other restricted material.
- For a sentenced state prisoner or state-supervision record, use the Illinois Department of Corrections offender search. IDOC does not replace the county jail route for an ordinary new booking.
- For federal custody, check the Bureau of Prisons locator. For immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Neither is a Shelby County booking roster.
The Circuit Clerk’s office is at 301 E. Main Street, third floor, Room 1, Shelbyville, IL 62565. Peter A. Otis is listed at 217-774-4212, fax 217-774-4109, and cc1@shelbycounty-il.gov. For a municipal incident report, keep the city custodian separate from the county jail custodian. Shelbyville Police is listed at 120 S. Morgan Street and 217-774-2141; Windsor Police is listed at 1016 Maine Street, Windsor, IL 61957, 217-459-2282, fax 217-459-2259.
Moweaqua has a documented municipal route through its public information request page. Beth Hawn is identified as Village FOIA Officer at 217-768-3036 ext. 4 and beth.hawn@moweaqua.org. During the reported policing transition, ask whether the Village or SCSO holds the incident record before filing.
